The Daily Bread was born in 2018 from a simple belief: that great bread should be accessible to everyone. Founded by two lifelong bakers in the heart of Sandton, we set out to prove that honest, slow-fermented bread could compete with anything imported from Paris or Cape Town.
We use only the finest stone-milled, locally sourced flours, free-range eggs, and seasonal produce. Our sourdough cultures have been alive for years, our croissants are laminated by hand, and every loaf is shaped, scored, and baked with intention.
Today, The Daily Bread serves hundreds of families across Johannesburg β through our Maude Street bakery, weekly delivery boxes, and corporate catering service. But the heart of what we do remains unchanged: turning simple ingredients into something extraordinary.

HOW WE GOT HERE
Founded in Sandton
Two passionate bakers, one wood-fired oven, and a dream to bring honest bread to Johannesburg.
Launched Delivery Boxes
We started delivering weekly bread boxes across Sandton and Rosebank during lockdown β and never stopped.
Expanded Our Kitchen
Moved to our Maude Street home with a full open kitchen, cafΓ© seating, and a pastry counter.
Best Artisan Bakery Award
Recognised by the Johannesburg Food & Hospitality Awards as the city's best artisan bakery.

You can order directly through our website by browsing the Menu page and adding items to your cart. For custom or corporate orders, use the Custom Order page or contact us directly at [email protected].
We currently deliver to Sandton, Rosebank, Bryanston, Morningside, Illovo, and surrounding northern Johannesburg suburbs. Free delivery is available on orders over R350. For areas outside our standard zone, please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
We offer five daily delivery windows: 07:00β09:00, 09:00β12:00, 12:00β15:00, 15:00β17:00, and 17:00β19:00. You can select your preferred slot at checkout. Please note the 15:00β17:00 slot fills up quickly β we recommend booking early.
Standard orders require a minimum of 24 hours' notice. Custom cakes, corporate catering boxes, and large event orders require at least 48β72 hours' notice. For same-day orders, please call us directly and we'll check availability.
Absolutely β Click & Collect is available at our Maude Street bakery in Sandown. Simply select 'Click & Collect' at checkout and choose your preferred collection time. Your order will be ready and waiting for you.
